And we all know, prime season has long arrived – summer with its inducing green grass, full blooms, blue skies, and sunshine…who doesn’t want a midsummer night’s dream?

Besides, everyone seems much cheerier this time of year. Makeup, however, can be a tricky thing in the heatwave with no portable fan or outdoor conditioning. You just need to be well armed for the sweltering day… So, let’s get to it and talk wedding-proof makeup tips to beat the tears, the sweat, and the grime!

Skincare

A week before the big day, we highly suggest focusing on your skin – taking care of any blemishes, exfoliating two days prior, and marinating in a sheet mask or two. The Base

For foolproof photogenic makeup, avoid SPF at all cost, pick a good primer + foundation combo, and a base that matches your skin tone and type. we reiterate this over and over, but light, thin layers is key to long lasting makeup! Hourglass makes really beautiful primers that wear well with all foundations. For a base, We have always (and will always) stand by Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and By Terry Sheer Expert Foundation. If you have oily skin, We have found Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation to be perfect, but it contains SPF 15. Another amazing full-coverage option sans SPF is Bobbi Brown Foundation Sticks – they’re super convenient because of the stick form obviously and can be used to create highlight-contour effects. They’re also great for any necessary touch ups throughout the day. The formulation sits on the drier side, which perfectly suits anyone who becomes a grease ball as the day draws on.

Concealer

If you don’t know, we are fans of using both light-reflective and full-coverage concealers. Tarte Shape Tape excel at masking shadows, dark spots, blemishes, and even providing a matte highlight – super potent, yet emollient and withstands heat very well. Laura Mercier also makes really killer concealers – you all know that We have been a major fan of the Secret Concealer – it makes a wonderful corrector. love love! For light reflective ones, We still reach for the one from Dior and Clinique’s Airbrush Concealer is another really good all-in-one.

Powder Over Creams/Liquids

Another thing, WE ALWAYS do when applying Wedding Makeup is layer powder products over their cream/liquid counterparts. We just discovered Lancome Glow Subtil Silky Creme Highlighter and have become obsessed with Buff Lights – it’s slightly less gold compared to Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector – Moonstone. Milk Lip & Cheek Stains have also quickly become favorites – they’re fuss-free, but wear more naturally and subtle – the only thing is the color range is quite limiting. Now for a true cream blush, Bobbi Brown Pot Rouges are brilliant with an abundance of colors to choose from – it takes only a small amount to get the job done and applies on smoothly. Now onto powders, Nars and Tarte blushes and bronzers are NO BRAINERS! Though Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow gives you KILLER cheekbones. To maintain your complexion, while mattifying the skin (even throughout the day), Tarte’s Smooth Operator Powder is gold…

Eyes

For eyeshadow, Urban Decay Naked Palettes will never fail you, though We Have recently cheated on them Zoeva’s Cocoa Blend Palette. Forgive US. For a cream base, you should absolutely go with Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Sticks, We wear these without eyeshadow primer and they don’t budge! Plus, the color Truffle, is the perfect highlight shade! We also suggest layering gel eyeliner with liquid to really seal the deal, just be sure to pick a waterproof one (aka the cult Stila Liquid Eyeliner). Finally, go in with a waterproof mascara, our absolute favorite (Lancome Hypnose). You must also apply fake eyelashes – it might feel heavy if you don’t wear them often, but they make all the difference in the world in photos! TRUST US!!!!!
